You're right and I agree. I've been banging that drum for a while now. Goff has actually been performing at this level since after the '18 KC game. The HC, scheme, receivers, running backs and OL have all been blamed for his decline. But the one constant has been Goff. Now we get to find out if the obvious answer is the right one.
Strong Opinion Sports on YouTube actually touched on something back on Dec. 4th. Is Goff passionate about football? Is he motivated to get to the next level or is he comfortable? Said he started wondering about it after hearing Goff's thoughts on Alex Smith returning to the playing field. Goff seemed more puzzled at Smith's fight to get back because he already got all that money, than appreciated all the hard work and dedication from Smith.
On top of that, I remember before the bye, Goff's motivation was to just get away from it all during the break. Which seemed odd to me considering they had just lost to the Dolphins and he had played horribly. Maybe I'm wrong but I felt like he should be wanting to fix the problems and work harder. I don't know but there are a couple of recent examples that don't seem to put him in that Brees/Brady/Manning group in terms of dedication and tenacity.
