But my guess is he's responding to what appears to be excusing Goff of any responsibility. I haven't seen the majority of the people defending Goff expressly note that he's part of the problem. I honestly think he's reading just fine.
Even here, you list his issues as similar to most all QBs in the league. But some of his recent bad play and bad decisions are nothing like "most all" QBs. Take the horrible decision yesterday to heave the ball to Seattle instead of simply running out of bounds. That type of stuff, which seems pretty common, has nothing to do with McVay or the OL.
And most do not say it's a lot of issues and not just the qb in a pressure situation.
And any claim that someone is "excusing" is entirely in the mind of the beholder. That's cant, and nothing more.
Almost typically to make that kind of slip in analysis someone will turn from the record setting (for the Rams) 24 pressures they faced and try and make it about one play.
I never buy that kind of thing; to me, it's weak analysis.
Off the top of your head what was Goff's third down conversion percentage in that game. If you don't know that but can dwell in loving detail on your favorite qb mistake, then, you're falling for the typical "scapegoat the qb" model of venting. It's certainly not trying to get a whole picture.
To me, real analysis acknowledges that you cannot win a game if your qb is pressured on 55.8% of the passing plays.

I'm skeptical of the source that says there were 24 pressures. That's not what I saw. I trust PFF more than whatever your source is and they say there were 13 pressures. That lines up more with what I saw.
Granted it's still a lot of pressure.
Off the top of my head, I'd say his 3rd down percentage was very good yesterday - at one point he was 6 for 12 or so. See I know this because I account for the whole picture as the game is being played.
OTOH, you look like you're giving Goff a pass because no one can win if he's under pressure that much but that doesn't account for the mistakes and bad decisions he made that have nothing to do with pressure.
So to say that it appears that you're excusing him is not entirely in my mind since you expressly state he's excused ("he cannot win"
given the pressure.
