Warner plainly says here that when the Rams are running the ball and using play action in the passing game they thrive. He says but when defenses are able to get them out of that offense or the Rams have to or for that matter want to pass “drop back pass game” they struggle
He explained that the cause of that is because Goff has to hold the ball and struggles reading defenses. In a video breakdown a couple of weeks ago after the loss to the Niners he said Goff is slow to process his reads And needs to be thinking ahead of time what to do if his first read is not there.
Now surely waterfield you have to know Warner is not the only person pointing this out. Dan Orlosky, Chri Sims, Steve Young, Greg Cosell, and others are all saying this. Heck Chris Collingsworth and Tony Romo were saying it in 2018 the year the Rams went to the SB!
You don’t have to be a fan of Warner’s to understand what he is saying here. It has nothing to do with being a fan.
The Rams drop back passing game has been average at best since 2018 and this year it’s flatly been bad
Oh re: Belichick - The Rams beat the Pats with Cam Akers carrying the offense. He ran the ball more times than Goff passed the ball. Akers ran for 171 yards. Goff threw for 135 yards. Goff was barely a factor in the Rams win over the Patriots and the way the Rams won that game certainly doesn’t fit the description Warner uses to describe the Rams offense when they struggle.
