McVay can't think for Goff ... it keeps going back to his first read man
His first read on 3rd down was Akers... Akers was not open and he thrw a bad pass to him out of bounds... there are routes in that 3rd down call for Jared to throw to... he chose Akers and he wasn't open.
On the 4th down... I get it. Everette one on one Goff pulled the trigger... just like he did in the Cheifs game. The 5 yards were there for Kupp and Higbee but because Goff predetermined where he was going they missed out.
McVay gets plenty of blame in this game but not on those plays IMO. Goff pulled the trigger. Any other time hes dumping it off to the check down why not do it then... it's just bizarre

The bigger question is why isn’t McVay trying to get the first down with 2 shots on 3rd and 4.
Just call plays to get 5 yards, get the first down. Then take a shot.
I put 99% of the blame of this loss on McVay.
Team wasn’t prepared to play
Bad game plan
Poor play calling
And Staley's vaunted D gave up 23 points to an 0-13 team, letting them start the 2nd half with their 2 longest drives of the season for 10 points, and getting 0 turnovers.
Goff wasn’t very good, but the OL was terrible, he was getting battered relentlessly. Why wasn’t McVay moving Goff outside the pocket in the first half?
And STs give up a blocked punt to ice it off.
This game should not have even been close. That’s on McVay more than anyone else.
