Rams Offense Last Night Did Have to do Much. Cam Newton looked helpless and the game was over after the 10-0 start so I get coasting into the win, but this is not going to work against better offensive teams just sitting on the lead. Newton needs to find a nice beach and remember what he once was years ago with a nice drink by his side.
Look at the possessions last night after the 10-0 lead. only 1 successful drive out of 9. The problem with these kinds of games is your offense goes dormant and when you have to bring it back out, the coffers are bare from being so stale and out of practice and mindset.
1) Interception
2) Punt
3) Punt
4) Touchdown
5) Punt
6) Punt
7) Punt
8) Punt
9) Run out Clock
5 of the 9 drives were 3 plays or less
I get that you take the win in front of you, but in today's NFL, you can't beat good teams by laying down and punting even with a elite defense. Put it this way, the 1972 Dolphins 17-0 would have a hard time winning a 2nd round playoff game in today's NFL. You have to attack to stay up with the good teams.
No you actually don't. I'm not sure where your logic is but the key to winning is scoring more than your oponents. How do you stop mahomes? You can't right he is going to do his thing no matter what. You limit his posseions right, keep your offense on the field for as long as possible and finish drives with tds. This wears out the opposing teams defense and keeps your fresh against top competition. You can totally win this way but we didn't have a punt fest last night we grounded out plays and kept things moving we went conservative in the 4th and tried to sit on alead because we were up by three tds.
