McVay knows this team, these players, certainly better than any of us AND, I would add, I think better than most OTHER coaches in the NFL would know them.

And he's doing what any good coach does.. he's trying to put them into the best situations to win.... WITH that knowledge.

Here's maybe where you and I part: I think what he's doing is indicative of flaws in players, most notably Goff, but not ONLY him, that he is finding it difficult to coach around.

That effects every aspect of the offense... to include the receivers, RB's, all of the offense. Now so far what I have said is no different than I would say about ANY team in the NFL... that's what good coaches do... but in our case, the RAMS, those limitations are a bit more severe... NOT as bad as the bottom feeders, by any means, but still bad.

Here's why I think this: It explains the often odd play calling that we ALL have noticed. You included. It explains the lack of a deep threat... it explains the 'seeming' conservative calls in which he's trying to win the field position battle, it explains the calling of plays that 'should' reduce turnovers, it explains why he's not trying to blow out teams but rather win by making the fewest mistakes in regards to everything - - turnovers, field position, maximizing what he believes his players are MOST capable of executing.

I think McVay is a great coach. And I think that at this time he is severely hampered by lack of execution which means he believes, (rightfully) that he doesn't think we can accomplish all that we as fans would like to see him attempt. - JamesJM
