yes. Yes. YES. In re the 2nd point: McVay has been accused before, at times, of abandoning the run. And he has. But on Monday he got it right. The strength of the Rams' O is not "balance" for the sake of balance. It's balance such that they can take advantage of whatever the defense allows.
I am not sure if the coach gets kudos for recognizing the situation (playing the #1 run defense) and play calling accordingly or if this matchup just allowed him to do what he always seems apt to do, ignore the run game. Only time will tell but I hope it is the former and not the latter.
