I’m a little puzzled by your take here, Coy.
2) Defense: Some teams have won the SB without having a great QB. Our defense is one of the best this year but I don't see the overall grit that I've seen on those SB teams who won with a average QB but top-quality defense. I'm probably in a minority here but I don't feel the level of fear from the Rams that past defensive DB winning teams brought.
You yourself said that our D ‘is one of the best’. Heck, it’s ranked either #1 or #2, depending on metric. And it seems to be improving each game as the players gel together. Doesn’t, by definition, such a D have that grit needed for a SB win?
Yeah and I also don't think the qb is "average." We'll see how good he can be. In terms of teams not fearing the defense...I dunno, I think teams will be smart about that. They will certainly respect what they've seen from this defense so far. For example, even after the Rams game, Seattle is still 1st in scoring and 4th in total offense. Which means the Rams defense handled them pretty doggone well.
