It's going to be hard for any of us to know for sure if he coddled him too long. There's no way for us to know if he coddled him at all or to what extent.
But I think there are signs he is looking for the next step in growth from Goff.
More responsibility at the LOS is one. Criticizing his play at a higher level than usual when he plays badly is another.
I've got this feeling that how Goff plays the rest of this year is going to be critical in determining what happens for the future McVay/Goff relationship.
