....he is on pace for 1,062 rushing yards and 16 TD's (on 280 carries) and another 154 yards receiving.
He is still effective and (so far) has been durable.
With that said, I am glad from a football standpoint he is gone as he was unhappy it seemed last year and I would rather have a three headed monster at a fraction of the cost and game planning perspective....
Assessing it in isolation isn't the way to go. If there're big holes to run thru any RB will produce *good* stats.
Best way is to watch the back. When I watch Gurley, I see a back who's not even average running the ball - with the possible exception of when he gets inside the 5.
Another way: how does he do compared to other RBs behind the same line?
Gurley has 531 yds on 140 carries - 3.8 ypc.
Brian Hill, the only other Atlanta back w/more than a handful of carries, has 219 yds on 48 carries - 4.6 ypc.
Maybe there's something about how each is being used, but in itself that doesn't reflect well on Gurley.
Gurley has 77 receiving yds on 16 catches - 5.9 yds per reception. Hill has 111 on 16 - 6.9 yds per.
I'm not watching Falcons' games. Again, maybe there's some explanation for Hill's much better results other than his being the better back but...
I doubt it.
