The problem for Gurley is that he has lost a step (two, really), he doesn't seem to have lateral agility, and he's not the type to regularly stick his head in there and move the pile (ala Malcom Brown).
The Rams made a wise choice in releasing him (after a very bad choice in signing him to a large deal), and the Falcons were blind as bats to think he was going to be a difference maker for them. RBs notoriously have a short shelf life, and his expiration date passed 2 years ago. The Falcons didn't break the bank for him ( $5 mil), but what a waste of cap space and they could have signed a more useful player.
