I just finished re-watching myself, so I’ll piggyback on your thread.
I agree on almost every one of your takes, but there are a couple I differ with.
I thought Ebu had a few good plays, but the rest of his snaps were somewhat mediocre. I’m more impressed with Obo and Hollins there at edge with Ebu a distant 3rd. And I’m praying that Lewis will be a stud. Fingers firmly locked.
I, too, would love to see more Burgess. The kid could help in many Staley packages if not our outright nickel CB. He looks like a player to me.
Now, from my own notes...
Other than the first two and the last Ram drive it just seemed like so many were playing out of sync. Especially McVay’s playcalling and many of our O players. Time after time a player or two was off by THAT much, you know?
Missed open players by Goff.
Missed blocks.
Apparent missed reads.
Missed sacks when they had Allen right in their sights.
Our edge opposite Floyd is still our weakest link.
It almost seemed like Giants were reading Ram ‘tells’ because they were blowing up play after play as if they had been in the Ram huddle. Not used to seeing that.
I didn’t see the ‘want to’ from Hendy and Brown that I saw in the previous 2 games.
Hope Kiser gets well soon, for obvious reasons.
Gonna repeat this until it’s changed, but Troy Hill is NOT among our 3 best CB’s.
I, too, can’t wait to get Fuller back. Maybe then Staley can find new (and better) schemes for Rapp.
What would be so wrong with giving Calais a few opportunities as PR? He’s electric and Kupp isn’t as a PR. Isn’t this a no brainer?
I will say this about our Staley D, though. They may make me half crazy sometimes with blown coverages, missed tackles, and whiffed blitzes. But Dayum! Staley’s second half scoring D adjustments have been awesome. Another 3 points allowed in 2nd half to the Giants. That’s now 4 consecutive games of stellar Ram second half scoring D. When they do that 4 times in a row, it ain’t just coincidence.
Sure hope they hit the ground running in Washington. Another out of sync performance like this one will probably result in their 2nd loss and a golden opportunity missed.
