Brown should have started the first game. It is unlikely Akers had a full grasp of the system, he probably was reasonably far along but Brown knows this offense well. But they wanted to get Akers rolling. Why is that? Big play ability. Akers can flip the field for you.
IMO McVay really values that. To the point where he kind of ignores the value of having a guy defenses fear tackling. And I'll go back to this offense in the playoffs with CJ running behind our line. Boy oh boy teams were biting hard on play action.
But let's wait and see. If Akers & Hendy are RB1&2 in some order when both they and Brown are healthy that should be a good indicator.
Anderson is a pretty good counterpoint. He didn't have to go out and get Anderson and see certainly didn't have to ride him as he did.
Every coach wants a back who;'s a legit threat to go 80 yds; why wouldn't he? But, mostly, I think McVay wants backs who are effective, regardless of back "type."
