McVay wants homerun speed in his backfield. Also Hendy last season struggled with the playbook and still has a ways to go in growing into this scheme. I get them wanting to ensure they have enough horses in the backfield when the draft came around.
Ironically enough they also added Xavier Jones (who isn't a big speed guy but supposedly did well in the passing game and made the roster) as well as picking up Raymond Calais from Tampa. Rams having 5 RBs is a surprise to me and I don't know that it makes sense. But maybe it makes sense when you consider that the Rams could be concerned about them staying healthy as a group.
What are you implying with the homerun speed? Hendo may be faster than Akers. I believe he clocked a 4.37 40 time at the Combine although that was unofficial.
