First even though he had some good runs (especially given defenders in the backfield on some of them) the sample size was very small and according to Vinny it was due to him not grasping the offense. That isn't going to endear you to McVay, who puts a high priority on intelligence with his players.
Second his tendency to get nicked up. He's definitely looking like a change of pace type dude. That alone will change the way the team looks at you as a RB, particularly if there are no other guys on the roster who look like they can eat carries. I do think Akers will be able to eat carries, but that said if the Rams are looking at him as a change of pace type all of a sudden he's not going to be above being a potential cut when they see some young guys who also bring that but might be more capable of handling the punishment of the position.
A lot of RB is being available. Brown definitely has concerns there. So if Hendy is going that route (even just in the coaching staff's minds) they're going to be looking at other options. I don't think Hendy is looking at a cut or anything, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were to cut him or move him in trade to a team that needs a change of pace type and who liked him last year in the draft.
