Detroit 2018 a game they won when they went away from Goff and turned it over to an injured Gurley
Gurley was fine in the Detroit game (23 carries for 132 yards) and it is true that the Lions defended the pass first and were among other things all over the Rams screen game.
And that was the game where the Rams OL got exposed. Sullivan less effective, Blythe less effective, Hav less effective. Same pattern would exist through all their losses in the 2nd half of 2018.
In 2018, before the Detroit game, when Goff was pressured 9 or more times in a game, they went 3-1 and his avg. qb rating was 112.9. That's with 63 total pressures in those 4 games (about 15.6 per game). After the Detroit game, and including the post-season, when Goff was pressured 9 or more times they went 1-2, and his avg. qb rating was 72.3. That's with 35 total pressures in 3 games (about 11.2 per game). So why was he so much better with more pressures before Detroit? One way to see it is that when OL play erodes, it's not just pressures--a lot of things are "off" (timing, rhythm, confidence in the OL, playcalling and so on.)
