the best trio in football going forward after signing Kupp for what I can only hope will be a team friendly deal. Still likely 15 mil.
I hate to say this but it's true. As a rule players do not sign "team friendly" 2nd contracts. I can't think of anyone who did. 2nd contracts are the cash-in deal: as in, you got me cheap on a rookie deal but now this is what the market says I'm worth.
WR 2nd contracts tend to follow 2 paths, with one for elite players (like Thomas or Cooper) in the 19-20 M range, though that would be more in 2021.
The starter (but not superstar) category was getting around 18 M in 2019. That too will be more in 2021.
The odds of Kupp signing for 15 M are slim to nothin. Jarvis Landry signed for more than 15 M in 2018. Cooks signed for 16 M in 2018. And so on. By the time 2021 rolls around that will be a 4 year old number.
I mean one can always be surprised and wrong about stuff like this but most likely it's going to be more in the 18-20 M range.
