Of course winning is a trait and a characteristic.
Plenty of guys are happy enough with "almost" and "moral victories". Those are definite traits.

This is the problem with attempted leadership under almost any circumstances. The 2nd place guys always think it's about things like communicating, collaboration, everything but getting to the end result. The winner knows that only one person can have the vision for bringing home the championship. It's not formed through collaboration.

Besides: the HC shouldn't be collaborating or communicating all that much with the players. He's supposed to do whatever measure of that is needed with his assistants. It's THEIR job to do those things Goff is talking about... however much or little might be needed.

In fact, there's not a doubt in my mind that the reason McVay brought someone in to be an OC (instead of not) is because (fingers crossed) he figured out after last year that his personal collaboration with his QB wasn't the best idea.

Yeah I have no doubt that management seminars talk about those same 3 things Goff mentioned. But you know who goes to management seminars? Guys who are having trouble managing. Not the guys who are leading the pack.
