My point is that Bellicheck is not at all known for the 3 things Goff says is what an HC ought to do.
Neither was Lombardi. Or Shula. Or Landry. All of these were the my way or the highway guys.

And I don't buy for a second the new way for the new generation. That may be a bunch of young kids' mindsets when they get to the NFL, but its not true. If that is how it worked, Bellicheck would have gone downhill a few years ago.

The same coaching and leadership principles work generation after generation. Sure, strategies and tactics change over time.
It's just that some fans now think HCs need to be media darlings and PC and bring cookies and milk to practice to be the players' best friend. They have to be sensitive to the players' feelings. Uh.....no. Only if they want to be loved.

Players are there to carry out the coaches plan, the coaches way. Period. Winning is what produces buy in; not agreement between coach and players. Otherwise you get Marvin Lewis who is beloved of player and media but never could get his team above mediocrity.

But, I confess, that in this new world of fantasy football and collaboration and less focus on results, I could see why a Berkley trained young man would think like this. I just hope McVay doesn't, too. otherwise Kroenke will be looking for a new HC in a couple more years. But dang..... our players will sure love the Coach.

Just because Fisher wasn't a good HC doesn't prove your point
