I got a job with the Panthers the year after we won the Super Bowl. The game at Carolina was Warner's first game back after his thumb injury. It was like 10 degrees that day. Rams lost 16-3. Totally forgettable game. But before the game I was walking onto the field as Warner was coming off. He looked right at me, smiled, and said "How's it going?"
I've met Jimmy Carter, every NASCAR driver you can think of, A.J. Foyt, every Panther player from 2000-2008 (Reggie White, and probably many that I'm forgetting about right now. That was the only time in my life I was like "Oh, wow, I actually talked to (whoever)."
I got to talk to Ricky Proehl at length when he signed with the Panthers. He was not a fan of Mike Martz.
