Many years ago, in the early 70's, after the Rams destroyed Atlanta in a game in LA when Olson was still around and Youngblood was a young player, my wife and I were in the Palomino Club in North Hollywood, when several of the Rams players came in. I was too chicken to go over and say anything, but my wife (who was quite a bold person and pretty foxy in her younger age!) went over, introduced herself, talked with them a few minutes and behold! Merlin Olsen comes back with her to our table. He hung out with us a few minutes and was the most gracious, down home, easy to talk to person one could imagine. What a great night that was for me, and so Merlin Olsen will be forever remembered in my heart.
