HOF and SB winner isn't great enough? Ridiculous. Pace was the face of the franchise for years. We're talking a LT being your star. That's pretty unusual.
And it's all about the details. This isn't a case where there are only so many numbers available and the Rams needed to use 76 for a new starter. This is a 7th round nobody that probably won't even make the team. Those guys don't usually get historic numbers.
A 7th round ‘nobody’ is unlikely to wear that number for 10 years, so there is that.
Pace is overreacting here, IMO. As you say, there’s only so many numbers and certain player positions are supposed to wear certain number groups. Currently, the Rams have a 90 man roster, so they need 90 numbers. C’mon...
