Well, to be honest there is not much to argue with this grade IMHO.

Akers was a luxury pick or the Rams are really , really down on Henderson and Brown.
Akers looks to be a good runner but picking a rb in that spot was something I did not expect .

Same for van Jefferson. Obviously the Rams do not think that Reynolds can fill the gap created by the Cooks trade.
van Jefferson already will be 24 years old when the season starts, does not appear to be the deep threat they were thought to be looking for.

Best pick hands down is Terrel Lewis. If he can stay healthy the kid could be the steal of the draft. Being mentioned in the same breath with a von Miller says all.

Rest of the draft class look okay to sound with Burgess and Hopkins being good players and good character guys/leaders.

Overall IMHO the Rams neglected there biggest needs (o-line, lb, deep threat at WR) so I have to say I am not overly impressed with their draft .
Save to say:
Hope I am totally wrong and the draft class kills it.

Oh, and BTW, this new logo looks HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!boo smiley

Go Rams!!!!!!!!!!!

I disagree with a lot of what you say here.

I don't see Akers as a luxury pick and I don't see them as being down on Henderson. I think they intend to run a rotation much like New Orleans does and you need two strong backs to do that. Picking Akers just tells me how strongly they want to have a top running game. So they replace Gurley with Akers and run both Akers and Henderson (Brown is serviceable but would never be part of a 2 back rotation since he isn't much as a receiver, if nothing else, and he lacks the big play capabilities of both Akers and Henderson).

WRs don't do much as rookies usually but then next year they won't have Cooks and both Kupp and Reynolds will be up as FAs and they probably can't keep both. Chances are that leaves it as a trio of Woods, Kupp, and Jefferson. That's smart. So replace Cooks now with a guy who will likely be very important in 2021.

Burgess allows them to run all the subpackages they want with nickel and dime defenses and other 3 safety looks. He's incredibly well suited for that. In fact he looks like he was born to do that. cool smiley

I don't see the OL as a need per se since they have several on the roster right now who fit as starters and depth. I can't think of the last time the Rams had that many candidates on the OL who already knew the system and had at least some playing experience.

How many recent superbowl winning teams have had a deep threat at receiver? Chiefs did. Patz didn't, and in fact they traded Cooks away. Eagles didn't. Denver had Sanders. Seattle didn't in 2013. So it looks like it's nice but not a necessity. And for those who say McVay needs such a guy, a deep threat, well he knows his own offense and he took a guy known for routes and not speed per se (though he can get open deep as he has shown).

Rams also drafted an LB to add to the collection of young LBs they still have. Actually they drafted 2 LBs, and Johnston would have gone higher if not for his injury.

This looks like a solid draft to me.

What they apparently did was replace their biggest losses--Gurley, Cooks, Fowler, and Robey-Coleman. The guys they got are potentially as good if not better (since Gurley is not his old self) but the draft picks are cheaper against the cap, freeing up a lot of cap space for 2021, when they will have to pay Ramsey.

...

Couldn't agree more...

Got a proven All Pro lock down corner at pick #20

Rams have invested heavily in the OL the last two years and it's time to get a return on that investment

Cam is not here to replace DH, he is here to compliment him. The more I read and watch of Cam, the more I like...STUD

VJ will be our 4th WR this year and be ready to go as our #3 next year....Bloodlines, smart, excellent route runner...sound familiar?

Terrell Lewis would have been 1st rounder had he not been injured...got him at 84

Burgess is another very smart player who can play CB or S....DJ said he could be a day one starter at slot

Deadpool's #1 TE at pick #136? Wow

Rams could have ended the draft after these five picks and it would have been a good draft, but they still had like 4 more picks .... Considering Rams didn't have an actual pick until #52 I'd say they killed it!!!
