Probably only Ruiz was a sure fire opening day starter on this current OL, and Ruiz went in the 20’s to the Saints.
Apparently, no teams wanted to be trade down partners in this rich draft so the Rams would only have the 4 picks to work with.
Meanwhile, terrific Players kept falling into their laps at positions of need.
The current OL was ascending late last year and can only continue to do so by playing together and improving techniques and cohesion. THAT means that continuously churning the starting OL would be harmful to their growth.
So, what would we have them do?
Honestly, I think fandom and some pundits have overestimated Ram OL problems and consequently have created a self fulfilling atmosphere that demanded throwing resources at the ‘problem’. It appears that the Rams have a different take.
There’s still Day 3 and the rest of the offseason to address OL deficiencies that may become obvious between now and opening day.
One last thing. We’ve had 3 years to observe this Snead/McVay duo. They’re not perfect, of course, but I don’t see evidence that would lead me to believe that they suddenly lost the ability to recognize and correct glaring OL problems after early and midseason in ‘19. In short, I think they’ve got this.
Other opinions may vary. Lol.
