Define ‘WR early’, leaf.
Does round 2-3 meet your definition of ‘early’? If so, I agree.
I’m betting on 2 things.
1. Snead will trade down out of one, or both 2nds if he possibly can. This would offer more and later opportunities to draft WR on Day 2.
2. Snead/McVay will have multiple targeted WR’s that they think will be good fits for this WR corps through at least the 3rd round. Emphasis THIS WR corps. IOW, I could see Rams picking a WR as early as 52 and as late as 104, or maybe a bit later depending on hypothetical Snead trade downs.
As an aside, I’m not sure that they’re looking for a strictly 3rd starting WR type in 11 sets like Cooks was. I suspect that we’ll be seeing a lot more 12 sets with only Woods and Kupp getting snaps. Therefore, this new WR might be seeing the field only in base sets. Or heck, maybe 12 will be the new base set. Lol.
Just spitballin’ here...
