The Rams gave up two first round picks and another pick. You cannot recoup that value by trading. You can franchise him but in this day and age it creates a larger problem and the players are more than willing to capitalize on the loopholes.
The whole concept is that these trades create an inbalance during negotiations and subsequently has created an inbalance in the NFL signings.
