Below Deadpool assessed what the Rams are doing and he crystallized what hit me last night. (Great perspective as always, DP).
This is a bit of a reset year.
I am not concluding they will be 8-8, etc. or not very good as so much more has to happen and games have to be played.
However, they had to take some chances on guys like L. Floyd for $10mm instead of $21mm or so on Fowler. They could not to pay an ILB (Littleton) $12-14mm a year for three years. So, you see if Travin Howard or Micah Kiser can step in. They cannot afford a nickel CB at $4.5mm (NRC), so you see if D. Deayon or D. Long are ready to take over at a much lower salary.
Coach 'em up. Scheme 'em up a la NE which always adapts to FA losses.
BAL always loses players and re-loads.
Good drafting.
Good coaching and scheming.
They also have to pay JJIII and Kupp next year. Jalen Ramsay has to get paid. Thus, some sacrifices and chances taken.
We will see if McVay is indeed a GREAT coach as his role and team dynamic changes and if his hires adapt to the situations they are in.
I do not see a 13-3 season ahead, but let's see how they do....
