Attempts to limit the spread of this virus are laudable but ultimately doomed to fail, although I do see the value of spreading them out over a longer period of time.
This virus will ultimately infect 150M people, give or take, no matter what steps are taken.
Our country deals with the flu and flu related deaths every single year without panicking. So why panic now?
Well, I don't believe that people ought to be panicking either, but...
There's a big...
HUGE...OBVIOUS difference between this and the flu:
THERE'S A VACCINE FOR THE FLU!!! THERE ARE ALSO TREATMENTS FOR THE FLU (I.E. TAMIFLU)!!!Currently, there aren't any such things for Covid-19.
If you want to try to do an accurate comparison, ask yourself the following questions:
What would be the annual death rates from the flu absent a vaccine?
Could your country's manufacturing/agricultural/technology/service sectors compete or survive if its respective workforces were sick (or had to be quarantined) for 3 weeks at a time?
