What is often left out of these conversations/comparisons is that it was literally a different era when the GSOT was doing what it did. The rules were different and far less slanted toward offenses and protecting players. IMO, if you put the GSOT Rams in today's NFL they are likely surpassing what they already did. Do the reverse with the Chiefs and I'm not so sure. Mahomes is a talent but with many of today's QB's, I'm just not confident that they would be starting, much less excelling in the NFL of the past.
There's a reason they changed the rules and there's also a reason why QB's can essentially start from day 1 in the NFL now.
And, just to defend Martz a little in the Martz/Reid comparison, IMO if Martz had been given the support and TIME to work through his learning curve he's have continued to win games. I mean, let's see Reid have success when his own front office is undermining him. Not to mention being hamstrung with archaic/no scouting department, questionable ownership, etc.
