Mahomes showed some big flashes when he played the last game of 2017. Statistically speaking, he was nothing special, but you could see something special with his "clutchness" and moxie.
Warner was a tough SOB; he played with no fear, and would wait until the last second to throw the ball, when his receiver had the best chance to make a play with the ball, and he paid for it.
He also had the benefit of some AWESOME talent around him. Unbelievable talent, especially when you consider the 2nd QB on the field with Faulk.
I know the topic is about overall offense, and I think it's pretty clear that the GSOT had better players.
And this also isn't and indictment of Kurt Warner. That's clear from what I said earlier.
But Patrick Mahomes is a once in a lifetime player, and I don't think it's too early to say that now. The way he can motivate his entire team, defense included, in such a preternatural manner is really something to see. The confidence he exudes is incredible. Hell, he makes me feel like I could suit up and help them win.
And the physical tools. My goodness! That no-look pass is a throw I'll never forget. Basketball? Still a great play, but much more commonplace.
He's got that baseball footwork, too. Same with Russell Wilson. I think Russell was a second baseman, while Patrick was a pitcher. But the defensive aspect of fielding a ball, pivoting, and throwing seems to have translated to their games as QB's. Kyler Murray is another with a similar background and skillset. jury is still out on him, but he's got some potential. He was so much fun to watch in college, and that's saying something coming from a 'Pokes fan! Credit where credit is due.
And Mahomes works so well in Andy Reid's offense. They trust each other implicitly, and it shows. He makes some throws that are head scratchers, but they are far outweighed by great throws.
I know, I'm rambling lol. He's just so fun to watch, and easy to root for.
Sorry for the tangent lol! I'm done.
