I disagree that it was a desperate move. IMO, they were looking for another foundational piece to build the defense. Besides AD, who else did they have that obviously warranted building around long term?

Fowler? Nope. Littleton? Maybe but as a ILB he's not as crucial as a CB.

They needed either an edge piece or a CB as the 2nd building block. That's what the move was about.
