That Goff's completion percentage tells part of this story. Dude throws a lot of balls away before sacks get home.
A couple of us suggested that maybe Goff deserved some credit for not being sacked a ton even in game when he was pressured a lot - and were pooh-poohed by a couple.
I'm pretty sure there's something to it, including throw-a-ways.
Goff doesn’t take a lot of hits. He does get rid of the ball, often panicky throws when he gets inside pressure. Case in point was the pick 6 in SF.
He hasn’t missed a game due to injury since his rookie year when he got his bell rung by Sherman running out of bounds.
The narrative on Goff in the media is he does well unless he’s facing a defense that can pressure him, then he falls apart like he did in Pittsburgh.
Goff needs better pass protection than most QBs. That’s probably his biggest negative. All the top QBs handle pressure better than Goff. So we can point the finger at the OL all we want, but Goff collapses more than any other good QB under pressure.
