I suspect the dynamic has changed a bit in how this organization will be controlled moving forward.
Sounds to me that McVay is asserting his will here and I expect him to flex his muscle on moves that are made in the off-season.
He is no longer a newbie, going into his 4 year as HC. I don’t believe he is happy with how the OL was set up this year. He is clearly not happy with how the team performed, they have too much talent to be 8-7.
Big changes in coaching staff and roster for sure, but also changes to personnel department. I expect McVay to take a chainsaw to this team. There are only a few untouchable pieces. Get ready for culture shock cause McVay is gonna shake this team up.
I'm not buying the idea that because McVay is no longer a newbie that he's suddenly going to have more power to make changes in the organization. I think he'll continue to have to make moves in a collab with Snead and Demoff.
That said, I believe we've clearly seen that the collab of Snead and McVay are aggressive. I've always felt that Snead was aggressive the way he talked and think it was held back a bit by Fisher who was more conservative. And this year, for the first time, we heard Demoff sign off, in an interview around the trade deadline, on the need and desire to be aggressive in today's NFL.
So while I'm skeptical that McVay will have more power, I do buy the concept that big changes may be coming.
