That's all we get here in Jacksonville is Jags news. Coughlin was a harda$$ from day one back in 1995. It was noted. Players we happy to be there but there was a lot of head nodding through there smiles. The very next season, they were in the AFC Title, after winning games AT Buffalo and AT Denver to get there. There was not a single peep about Coughlin's ways. They stayed competitive and would be in the AFC Title in 1999 after handing Marino his worst loss as a Pro. Through all those years, not a word was said about him being inconsiderate. When the TALENT dwindled in the early 2000s? THEEEEN players started whining, One of the biggest was a WR named R.J. Sower (I think) he would be late for GAMES but moaned about Couglin. Shortly after, Coughlin was gone. . After he arrived in NY, the "TOO stern" image followed. Strahan was one of the biggest whiners. But when they won a SB , Strahan was the big smiley face of the franchise.......with not word about Coughlin's rules.
With allll that said, Coughlin has been a convenient cop out for under performing players over the years. Coughlin's rules are no harder than MANY companies out there. Are they too over the top? Maybe. But Brunnel knows they are NOT the Jags problem
Oh, I have no doubts about Coughlin's history as a hard ass, and wasn't commenting on that. Actually that has nothing to do with my point.
He was though recently busted for violating rules in the CBA having to do with when you can fine a player. It was so bad the player's union openly said, don't sign with the Jagz.
That's the only real issue.
You can't violate rules like that. That's not being a hard ass, that's being a....uh...language? ....banana head.
