he was pressured early on, and it really messed with Goff the whole day. He was sacked twice.1st sack was on a DL stunt with Sean Lee blitzing behind it. Lee came untouched and sacked Goff. it was outside pressure. The whole line was pushed into the pocket and Goff stood no chance. Second was was another DL stunt where Corbett (my main man) didn't pickup the inside rusher and Goff again had little time to throw. That was inside pressure. Goff was pressured, but he had time to make plays and he failed to execute.
Case in point: 1:30 to go in the half, 2nd and 14. Goff takes the shotgun snap, never looks past his 1st read. which happens to be Woods as the deepest route (kupp might have been a bit deeper) his arm is hit which messes up his follow thru, but it doesn't matter, because 2 guys are in position to pick off that ball. On that play, the TE is open for a 8-9 yard gain, Cooks the same and Brown is literally standing all alone on the right flat. Its an absolute horrible play as he never even TRIES to look off the LBer or S. Sure, Whit gave up the inside to put some pressure on him, but that was not a pressure throw and he had enough time to pick any of the 3 open targets of the 5.
Another was the pass to Gurley on the wheel route, he flat out missed him with nothing but endzone in front of him. Even if Gurley adjusts and makes that catch, he wasn't getting in. It was a horrible throw with no pressure.
All in all, I wouldn't qualify this game as a high pressured game, but the lack of a run game and the pressure he did see messed with him. Like I said, he gets pressure early and he just seemingly cannot get the last play out of his head. He needs a CB mentality. After the play is over, its over, move on. He acts like he is getting pressured all day even when he isn't.
Listen, I like you both and respect both of you as posters and as friends. I really debated even responding, because nothing good can come of it, but I felt like as long as I spoke what I feel I saw I will be ok. I just need to tell myself I'm in a safe place. Nobody can hurt me. lol
As far as inside vs outside pressure, I thought Evens held his own, Whit was horrible and is the most penalized OL in the league if I heard correctly and Corbett, Blythe and Edwards got pushed around. What really hurt the Rams was Goffs inaccuracy (was it hand injury related?) and the literal lack of any run game. So play action was useless.
