There are a bunch of QBs that you can win with if everything around them is really good. Goff is one of those guys.
So is Wentz, Dak, Carr, Garoppolo, Cousins, Ryan, and maybe a couple of others....
Goff isn’t going to be anything special, but if Flacco and Eli can win a SB so can Goff.
I'd say the numbers show that Goff is a little bit behind Wentz, Dak, Cousins, and Ryan. While those guys do need things around them to be good in order to win, Goff collapses a little bit more than them when conditions are not ideal.
His overall numbers in less than ideal conditions are more akin to Carr and Garoppolo and when honing in specifically on under pressure numbers, they are much worse than all of the above listed QBs.
On your last line, I agree it's possible but it's rare.
Its a reasonable take that Goff collapses a little bit more than those other guys, but its also reasonable to say when things are good around Goff he can make better throws than those guys. The point being is that there are different types of above average QBs, with different strengths and weakness that average out to be about the same level of QB - Above Average.
Only one of those guys played in a SB (besides Goff) and Ryan choked blowing a huge lead. I'd be hard pressed to say Ryan is better than Goff. Ive seen Ryan look like absolute crap when his OL was bad. I think they're about the same.
Cousins has been around for 8 years and hasn't done anything in the playoffs. Wentz hasn't stayed healthy enough to do anything in the playoffs. And Dak has been better but has played behind a great OL for most of his short career.
But there is no doubt that teams know if they can put pressure on Goff he will do worse than those other guys. The Rams have less room for error with Goff. As I've said repeatedly, Goff is a triggerfish. He'll look beautiful as long as the conditions are just right. Don't mess up the temp and saline in the tank otherwise he'll be the first fish to go belly up.
