But it is curious how the Titans have given up 49 sacks on the year and are considered a good line while the Rams have given up 19 sacks this year and are considered massively dysfunctional or whatever.
One could argue that pressures allowed are more important than sacks. In fact, I've heard Wade and Greg Williams when he was the DC here say exactly that.
The Titans are tied for the 6th fewest pressures allowed at 141.
The Rams OTOH are the 7th worst team in that category at 206.
The Rams have been improving. Earlier in the year, they were the 2nd worst team in pressures allowed.
But I'm not sure who says the Titans have a good OL. It's not ranked highly by FO or PFF.
"He has talent and has great Oline..." just upthread.
And I don't totally discount pressures but I have reservations. Mainly, it's a subjective stat. I don't know who or how they are being defined. Assuming the cumulative numbers are accurate, I'd rather see the % than the total number though.
For example, if the Titans have 141 pressures that's out of 411 dropbacks(34%)
The Rams 206 pressures are on 505 attempts(40%).
I don't know if 6% is enough to say one line is significantly better than the other. I don't know how the rest of the league compares so 6% may be huge. But I've never claimed that the Rams o-line was playing "well", just that they aren't massively dysfunctional and a direct cause to Goff's problems. Not that that isn't possible but I've watched examples of there being plays to be made by Goff and him choosing to not take positive plays or making bad decisions.
The Rams line has had some problems but they haven't been so bad as to be nonviable.
