I agree that Goff is part of the problem from the same rationale that you cite: it's clearly more than the oline because he had issues last year starting with the Lions when the oline was one of the best in the league. .

Last year's OL got exposed. It had issues too. It did not handle playing against top DLs. That's Detroit, Chicago, Phil, and the Pats. The OL was outclassed and outplayed in those games, and in a precitable fashion they dragged the qb down with them,

Agreed. And it was all clarified by Mike Lombardi before the SB. He said he spoke with his contacts on the Pats (he worked there) and found out that they saw Sullivan and Blythe as big liabilities. The Pats abused them as was predicted.

The Rams then made the risky decision to stick with Blythe, and play 2 unproven first year starters with one of them, Noteboom, out of position. They also let their best interior player, Saffold, walk. The issues got compounded by Whitworth showing age, not unexpectedly. And Havenstein getting exposed as an especially poor pass blocker. We can chicken or egg this as far as what triggered the downfall, interior or outside, but it remains that the Rams miscalculated to at least some degree either way.

Looking ahead, I believe McVay won’t stand for another risky approach to the OL. Significant moves will be made to fix the OL. I’ll bet on that.
