They are trying to make do with a bad situation. They have transformed the offense to more TE dependent, and then getting DH more involved, and still using Gurley as best they can.
It's like how the Bears used Walter Payton in their Super Bowl year. He was done, but he still had some value.
The bottom line here is that anyone who thinks Gurley is the same RB that he was 2 years ago needs to go look at the tape from 2017, and watch him cut and burst and and leap and break tackles. Its night and day.
