It’s quite possible that McVays hands are a bit tied on this. They just gave Gurley a ton of money and they can’t get out now. So they’re trying to milk this thing, hoping they can work around Gurleys seriously damaged knee until the cap hit isn’t catastrophic.
The coverup isn’t all on McVay, it’s on the entire FO. Unfortunately, McVay has to stand up there and take the hits.
