I think that McVay deliberately chose to attack what was considered the weak Buc secondary rather than their strong run D. Very understandable.
But he just got carried away with it and couldn’t stop himself. THAT was McVay’s big sin.
As the Bucs kept scoring TD’s he really had his hand forced to emphasize the passing game, although even then he could have sprinkled in a few runs to halfway keep the Buc D honest.
The result was a vicious circle where the Bucs simply stopped respecting any Ram run game and Goff and the Ram OL paid the price. Sigh...
