After the Dallas playoff game, I thought the knee thing was overblown and then this offseason I thought they'd pull back on his touches a little but still ride him at times.
Something doesn't smell right here. It's pretty clear that there are O-line problems, but also defenses seem to be selling out to attack Goff and the passing game - and it's working. There is no backfield threat. If we had one - we could exploit the pressure with delayed hand offs and traps and play action.
Either McVay is working too hard to protect Gurley (a him not we mentality) or there is really something seriously wrong with him. Either way, it's a problem. I know this sounds cruel - but McVay should try and ride him for as many games as he can. If he can't hold up - so be it - we'll look for someone who can and he can be a highly paid 3rd down back. I'd rather that than drag this BS out for the next couple years.
