While it’s not just about personnel groupings - the groupings obviously matter in that teams pickup on tendencies
For example maybe 3 WRs present a matchup nightmare for say the Cowboys but 2 TEs might work better against the Lions or Bears
Perhaps the oline struggles in pass protection or can’t run out of the 3 WR set against certain defenses and require the Rams to play more physical and add blockers
IMO it’s not as simple as you imply and requires a very thoughtful approach
I am encouraged that McVay will evolve because he did in those last two regular season games and the playoff game against Dallas. That and he spoke about being more physical
We should see a natural progression this season to more varied formations. That’s my hope anyhow and it’s based on what we saw at the end of last year
