The basics principle is this: Rams run a lot of play action and fake jet sweeps - play zone and ignore all that smoke and mirrors. McVay, as much as everyone says he adjusts to things, in some ways has been a one trick pony. His 11 man formation.
I will say this: missing from those games was Cooper Kupp. Adding a third weapon can really cause havok and would love to know how we would have done if he was suited up for those games.
But it's not saying much if you need to have 100% of your weapons healthy to beat good teams. Billichek typically wins with whatever personnel he has on the field that day.
I honestly don't think any of this has anything to do with running 11 personnel formations. You can run an infinite number of plays and combination of routes out of 11 personnel. I don't think there's any such thing as a defense catching up with 11 personnel.. What they shut down was the kinds of plays McV tended to run out of 11 personnel. All he has to do is run different plays and play combinations, and then adjust to the defensive adjustment.
