I think that's dead on the money... with perhaps a small degree of exception... like Goff and Gurley... but only a to a small degree.
Jimmy, I am well aware of what McV has said about this. I am not convinced.
On the one hand, I think I know coach speak when I hear it.
On the other hand, I am flat out unconvinced that the only purpose for PS games is positional competition. You can't convince me that they aren't also about player development.
Who were JSD and Gaines competing with? They will both play a lot, and really they have different uses. Who was Obo competing with by game 4? 2 flash plays and you know he is making the team. Why was he still in there?
And OL? Green OGs and Cs don't need player development before the games count?
OK. Kromer an d McV have a theory about it. I am not at all convinced.
And anyway, my point in the thread is simple: we have unanswered OL questions. Even if K and McV are right, we don't know that where we stand right now. I do not know if NB and Allen are ready for the season. I don't see how they can fail to be limited. And I really don't see how 5-6 quarters of PS game action wouldn't have helped them.
Not convinced.
