What education 21? I've seen the curriculum set out for jocks in major universities. With few exceptions they are designed to insure the athletes do not lose their eligibility due to failing grades. The football players at USC are not taking the same classes that the football players at Harvard are. Or any of the IVY league schools either. At Long Beach State I attended a "Health Management" class for some reason I can't think of right now. The entire class was filled with student athletes. The first day the class focused on "the proper application of deodorant". An hour that focused on the benefits of deodorant and the most effective way to use it. I didn't go back.
There was an article some time ago (WSJ ?) that showed how major universities that are known as football factories actually discourage recruits from math, science, etc classes. This is done by coaches, administrators, and alumni. This became part of the argument that college football players should be getting paid because of the $ they generate for the school-money that is NOT transferred to the Sciences, etc but stays within the athletic departments.
I guess my point is that there really is no true "education" unless the recruit is strong enough to go in a different direction than what the coaches, administrators, and alumni want.
