Now referees in games are going to be held legally responsible for penalty calls? Or the NFL is going to be held to some legal standard in which the courts will decide what action should be taken against a ref that makes a wrong call?
ZN, sometimes I think you just like arguing for its own sake.
Some fan trying to hold the NFL or the referees legally, civilly responsible for game calls goes to the absurd.
This Judge needs to be reprimanded and overruled for such outright stupidity.
It's a tool to hold a large entity like the NFL accountable.
Good for them if thats their motivation.
Naturally the NFL doesn't like that. Of course. That's a given.
As for your over-reaction to the judge doing his job exactly the right way he ought to do it...enh. Lots of myths about "litigation" these days and I don't buy them.
Like now. You don't have the claim they're making right. What the suit intends to demonstrate is that the NFL does not hold its officials accountable for bad calls, so they seek to demonstrate that by gaining access to internal NFL records. IF they get what they want (which is another question), what would happen is that the NFL's process for internally handling bad calls would be more effective and transparent. That's it.
The way you describe what they're after, you just plain have it wrong. They are not asking for what you seem to think they are. I'm not sure where you get your ideas about this from, but they aren't in accord with what is actually going on with this case.
