FOOTBALL INSTINCTS...

I think it happens more than not where a team drafts a physical STUD...with the hopes of teaching him the game...
and that;s why I often favor - drafting in mid rounds - avg athletes that are great football players. They always drop to the mid rounds cuz scouts don't quite know what to do with them. imo
There's always a need for the balance of good enough athleticism vs incredible Football instincts.
So, zn nailed it with the term "Football Instincts". imo
There are so many wonderfully gifted athletes that have astounding traits that would appear to transfer to the game of football...speed, strength, etc
and they just don't end up good at the game. Football is it's own thing...Kupp, Steve Largent, Hav, Taylor Rapp? , Zach Thomas and many others over the years that may be avg athletes but play the game at a high level...just not with the physical characteristics that we & coaches always want.
