The Rams still had a shot at the #1 seed in the NFC going into that last game. I'm pretty sure that's why Goff and the rest of the starters played.
It's "a" reason but not the only reason. The team had lost 2 out of the previous 3 games and Goff was still sputtering. Getting him back on track was mentioned during the games if I recall.
