I think that's a fair view and as it happens, I see a lot of it the same way.

But, there is the Goff curse.

The Goff curse is twofold.

First, his best skills are actually kind of subtle. Perfectly placed clutch throws with freaky accuracy, the kind of accuracy where the play seems inevitable. Yeah he misses wide open guys sometimes (even in winning efforts). But anyway the main point is, what he does is often subtle.

Second, his final games the last couple of years have been klunkers. Atlanta, New England. Those games, it seems to me anyway from my perspective, dominate perceptions sometimes. And, that's natural I suppose. Though what I notice is that losing in the superbowl is already a step above losing in the first playoff game. I also think that the New England game, along with Chicago, was to a great extent the result of a struggling OL. At this point in his young career, anyway, Goff is not yet one of those qbs who remains strong in the face of OL problems. And there's nothing unusual about that.

Is he as good as the Chiefs game, or is he defined by the Patz game? Well my view is that if you compare the 2 games you have an inconsistent young qb. He just needs to become more consistent, and his college career seems to indicate that he will. Improvement is part of who he is.

That's my vote anyway.
